Port of Virginia saw the most productive month in 2022, handling over 340,000 TEU in May

  • In May, total TEU levels exceeded the previous all-time monthly volume of over 14,500 units, a record set in December 2021, and May was the 3rd straight month of TEU volumes exceeding 314,000 units. 
  • The combined volume of March, April, and May is over 978,000 TEU, which is the busiest 3-month stretch in the port’s history.
  • Port's great performance is due to the 15 new shuttle trucks and 2 new ship-to-shore cranes at Norfolk International Terminals’ South Berth.
