Russia’s timber harvesting fell by 4.5% from January to June

  • From January to June the volume of logging in Russia fell by 4.5% year on year and the volume of wood harvested in the country reached 100.3 million m³ compared to 2021's volume of 105 million m³.
  • The Central and Ural Federal Districts raised logging by 5.2% and 3.3%, respectively, in total, these entities harvested 18 million m³ of timber and procurement grew by 50% in the Tula, Kaluga, and Ivanovo regions.
  • Concerning forest regions of Russia, the Northwestern Federal District reduced harvesting by 11.9% to 27.4 million m³, and the Kaliningrad region's harvesting fell by 40.4% to 36.5 thousand m³.
  • Leningrad Region's harvesting declined by 31% to 1.95 million m³ in the first half of the year, and Novgorod Region is down 19.7% to 1.1 million m³ compared to a year earlier.
